NV R. H. Coutier Brut Tradition Grand Cru
Champagne, France
The Coutier family has long-established roots in the village of Ambonnay. There is a document showing that a Coutier was baptized in the village’s church in 1619. Today, Coutier farms nine hectares of vines, all in Ambonnay, but he produces only about 50,000 bottles of champagne a year, as he continues to sell grapes to the négoce, principally to the houses of Moët & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Taittinger. Coutier’s champagnes are fruity and bold in flavor, demonstrating the ripe character of Ambonnay’s south- and southeast-facing slopes.
