NV Gonet-Médeville Tradition Brut 1er Cru
A perfect marriage! Julie and Xavier Gonet-Médeville both hail from storied winemaking families. In 2000, when his family’s plots were being divided, Xavier opted for a modest collection of the highest quality 1er and Grand Cru vineyards with a goal of producing only the most exquisite, small-production Champagnes. 70% Chardonnay, 27% Pinot Noir, 3% Pinot Meunier. Base wine is fermented in steel (90%) and used barrels (10%). No ML. Spends at least 2 years on the lees. Dosage is 7g/L.
92 points, Wine Spectator. "Showing very well...offering up an expressive bouquet of honeyed peach, oatmeal, Meyer lemon and subtle hints of the nutty complexity to come with further aging. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, fleshy and generous, with terrific concentration, racy acids and a pinpoint mousse. Not only is this an excellent Champagne, but it's a remarkably good value, too."
