NV Cantina di Santa Croce Lambrusco di Castelvetro Grasparossa DOC
Emiglia-Romagna, Italy
100% Lambrusco Grasparossa sourced from vineyards in the hilly area of the Modena district. The juice macerates on the skins to obtain its vibrant ruby color and layered flavor profile. It is fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to maintain its freshness and beguiling aromatics. This low alcohol (11%) slightly sparkling DRY red wine should be served chilled and pours a deep inky purple color with an awesome purple froth. It's got that uniquely Lambrusco nose of violets, strawberries and a pleasant savory/spicy note. This stuff goes down easy and pairs so well with just about anything- cured meats, cheese, roasted turkey with cranberry sauce, barbecue, burgers, sitting on a raft in the pool and much, much more.
Cantina di Santa Croce has a long history with deep roots in Emilia-Romagna. It was established in 1907 as an "association amongst grape producers in the Santa Croce and neighboring districts.” Business began in October, 1908 with 54 members. Nowadays, the winery boasts 250 members. They produce wines of striking purity and typicity.
