NV Churchill's 'Finest Reserve' Port
Churchill's is the first independent port wine house to be established in more than fifty years. It was the creation of John Graham and his wife Caroline Churchill in 1981. John Graham is a scion of the Graham port family and is the only port wine producer who only makes wines produced only from grapes in Grade A vineyards AND they make their own "Aguardiente" (spirit). ‘Reserve’ is technically a designation for a premium style of Ruby Port. Ruby is typically the youngest, freshest, and least expensive of all port styles. Churchill’s Reserve is a field blend of traditional varieties: Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, Tinto Cão, Tinta Barroca, Touriga Franca and Tinta Francisca. It’s fermented in granite lagares, fortified and then aged in used oak casks for three years before bottling. Has a full ruby color with violet tones. On the nose, very distinctive with fresh blueberries and chocolate taking the lead , with hints of eucalyptus, tobacco and spice; a very vibrant young Port with plenty of natural acidity. It's balance and pedigree denote its grade “A” vineyard origins.
