2022 Assiduous Pinot Gris

2022 Assiduous Pinot Gris
Santa Cruz County, California

Woo-hoo, it's the brand new vintage of one of our favorite white wines every year- and this is the best vintage yet!!

100% organic Pinot Gris- and this isn't your Grandma's boring, flabby PG! This crisp, high acid white is full of green apple and citrus notes with a mineral-tinged finish of wet stone and briny sea air. The lees aging and neutral barrel fermentation add some textural complexity and prevent it from feeling too lean in the mouth. We love this wine and all agreed this is the best vintage we've ever tasted!

25% from Regan Vineyard and 75% from the Basor Vineyard. The grapes were hand harvested at 22.4° Brix. Twenty five percent of the blend had 24 hours of skin contact to add a dimension to the textural properties. The fermentations of this wine were carried out by indigenous yeast and bacteria in neutral French oak barrels. During the ferment these barrels were strategically placed outside in the hot sun to warm the wine up for a fast and hot ferment, this process blows off fruity esters which lends to a wine more in the minerality realm.
