2021 Division Wine Co. Division-Villages 'Béton'

2021 Division Wine Co. Division-Villages 'Béton'
American Red Wine (OR&WA)

This blend of fruit from Oregon and Washington is inspired by Touraine Rouge bistro wines of the Loire Valley: Cabernet Franc 39%, Cabernet Sauvignon 20%, Côt (Malbec) 20%, Gamay Noir 11%, & Pinot Noir 10%, all organically farmed. The Béton blend features several grape varieties and fermentation techniques that all come together once blended after 5-6 months of aging. The heart of this wine is the Loire clone Cabernet Franc fermented with natural yeasts both individually and co-fermented with Côt (Malbec). A recent find of a higher elevation red fruit toned Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard has brought a new dimension to this wine, which has been rounded out by Gamay and Pinot noir since inception.

Mineral driven and anchored in classic Cab Franc tones. The wine is showing anise, raspberry and black tea leaf notes that are consistent vintage to vintage. The palate is fresh and mineral rich, like a wet dark rock, with intense raspberry character. Intriguing and food friendly, yet never overly heavy or boozy, the Béton red is now in it's ninth vintage, and a mainstay at our dinner table.
