2020 Sant Armettu 'Rosumarinu' Rouge Sartène
Corsica, France
Sant Armettu is a father and son team on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Corsica, Paul and Gilles Seroin. They grow not just 40 hectares of wine grapes but olive trees and a host of other crops, and they farm the entire estate organically and are introducing biodynamic practices as well. This is a light-bodied red from 100% Sciaccarellu. Also known as Mammolo in Tuscany, Sciaccarellu has characteristics of crushed strawberries, Rainer cherries, fresh flowers, and grilled herbs. Pair this with anything you might have with Pinot Noir or Beaujolais such as poultry, salmon, or light pasta, or just drink it on its own as an aperitif. This is a red that would also be great after a 30-minute chill in the fridge. "Rosumarinu" translates to Rosemary in Corsican, and the name is a homage to the stunning terrior of the island as well as Sant Armettu's commitment to their indigenous grape varieties.
