2020 Famille Brunier Vin de Pays de Vaucluse 'Le Pigeoulet'
Rhône, France
"Le Pigeoulet" is everything its oddly melodious name implies: exuberant, approachable, fun. At table, it is versatile and generous, with abundant aromas of blackberries, herbs, and licorice that can complement a wide range of epicurean delights. The life of the party at any cookout, picnic, or potluck. From the same family that makes the impeccable Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, this amazing southern Rhône value is a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 5% Carignan, 5% Cinsault. The 25-year-old vines are farmed organically on clay-based soil with sandy alluvial deposits. The wine ages for 18 months in 50% cement tanks and 50% large oak foudres. The name “Le Pigeoulet” is derived from the foothills of the noble La Crau plateau.
