2020 Assiduous Pinot Noir 'Volkmann Vineyard'

2020 Assiduous Pinot Noir 'Volkmann Vineyard'
Santa Cruz Mountains, California

100% Pinot Noir from the Volkmann Vineyard. The grapes were hand harvested at 23° Brix. During the fermentation 25% whole clusters were used and the rest was de-stemmed. Indigenous yeasts and bacteria carried out both primary and secondary fermentations. The wine was aged on lees in French oak barrels, one of which was once used giving it just a kiss of oak.

Tasting Notes: Medium red/purple hue. Primary scents of plum, cassis, and anise fill the nose. Secondary scents of rhubarb pie and eucalyptus linger in the background. Overall, the wine is quite supple on the palate with a push and pull feeling of creaminess and savory flavors. This wine falls into the quaffable category.
