2019 Vineyard 29 'CRU' Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
The CRU Cabernet is deeply rooted in the vineyards of St. Helena, with about 60% of the fruit coming from area growers. This 2019 ‘Cru’ is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 5% Petite Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Malbec. The wine was matured in 100% French oak (50% new) prior to bottling. This is a serious Napa Cab that nonetheless is ready for immediate enjoyment. Grilled meat, cocoa and Bing cherry perfume a beautifully expressive nose. Firm tannins and structure house notes of cassis, plums, black peppercorns and fresh tobacco leaf. This wine finishes with a long, weighty finish that never loses its focus and remains pure throughout.
94 points, Wine Enthusiast. "This deep and potentially ageworthy blend from both valley and hillside sites is a baritone, showing deep bass notes of black currant, toasted oak and espresso on a great structure of fine-grained tannins and a full body. Best 2026–2036."
