2019 Turley Zinfandel 'Dusi Vineyard'
Paso Robles, California
Founded in 1993 by Larry Turley, Turley is known for their wide variety of single vineyard Zins- they make almost 50 wines! The Dusi vineyard was planted by Dante Dusi in 1945 and it is farmed by his family to this day. The vines are head-trained and dry-farmed, planted in soil that is mostly alluvial with some very large rocks. Like all of Turley’s vineyards, it is on the west side of Paso and farmed organically. Full bodied, with plenty of lush, opulent brambly fruits abound on the nose and palate. Juicy, mouthwatering acidity, pleasantly soft at the start and finishing with a strong mineral backbone. Dark and hedonistic. Can age, but unequivocally enjoyable now.
94 points, Antonio Galloni's Vinous. "The 2019 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard is such a classic expression of Zinfandel from Paso Robles. Rich and layered in the glass, the Dusi is exuberant but also remarkably on its feet for a wine with so much natural intensity. Sweet pipe tobacco, cedar, mint and dried flowers add striking layers of aromatic nuance to a core of Zinfandel fruit."
93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. "The 2019 Zinfandel Dusi Vineyard, medium ruby-purple in color, offers bright red cherry perfume with notes of tar, potpourri and aniseed. Medium-bodied, the palate is soft and grainy with loads of juicy acidity, bright fruit character and a long, uplifted finish."
