2019 Domaine de la Pépière 'La Pépie' Muscadet
Loire Valley, France
The 'La Pépie' bottling is a mix of estate and some purchased fruit from vines that average of 40 years of age. The purchased fruit comes from neighboring parcels that match the Domaine's philosophy and practices, and 50% of the fruit comes from vineyards that could produce cru bottlings.
Lovely notes of pear, apple, and a hint of orange peel with briny oyster-shell minerality combined with the texture and spicy complexity from extended sur-lie aging. If you love Chablis or other no-oak, crisp whites, you’re gonna’ love this!
Domaine de la Pépière is the gold standard by which all other Muscadet producers are judged. They were among the first in the region to do single-vineyard Muscadet starting in the late 1980's. All the vineyards are farmed under biodynamic principles and in the cellar, the sur lie aging is pushed way beyond the requirements give all their wines added complexity and verve.
