2019 Domaine L'Hortus 'Bergerie de l'Hortus' Rosé
Run for this Rosé! Yet another bargain from last year’s vintage. We here at Enoteca Direct LOVE “older” rosés! Why? Because they are usually cheaper than the latest vintage AND they often drink much better (because they’ve had time to develop in the bottle! ).
This is a blend of Mourvèdre, Syrah, Grenache. 100% organic fruit. Made from direct pressing of the grapes (NOT from “bleeding” off juice from red wine).
This beautifully crafted, delicious rosé from the great Pic Saint Loup appellation shines with a lovely salmon color. Tempting raspberry and strawberry aromas are enhanced by notes of orange peel and herbs, all wrapped in a pleasantly-weighted palate. The finish is long, crisp, and pleasing. Serve as a festive refresher with tapas, grilled seafood, salmon dishes and barbecued chicken. Also fantastic with vegetarian stuffed squash.
About Domaine L’Hortus
Domaine de L'Hortus was established in 1978 when Jean Orliac, a professor of agriculture and avid rock climber, fell “head over heels” with the region and purchased land in and around the beautiful Pic St Loup cliffs. After years spent befriending the vines and reviving 50 hectares of wooded slopes, Jean and his family bottled their first wine in 1990. Their hard work and dedication have put them at the forefront of a new wave of producers who have brought fresh energy and talent to the Pic Saint-Loup Coteaux du Languedoc AOC. Today, Jean’s children Marie, Yves, François and Martin run the estate.
