2019 Cuvelier Los Andes Malbec
Mendoza, Argentina
55% Malbec and 45% Merlot, all organic and biodynamic, from the Uco Valley. This is fermented with native yeasts, and bottled with only 30ppm sulphur additions. Boysenberries and plums up front create a luscious, full bodied profile. Hints of white pepper bring some tannic structure to the wine while light notes of tart raspberries brings some acidity that allows it to stay light on the palate. This winery is the Argentinian cousin to Château Léoville-Poyferré in Bordeaux, and superstar oenologist Michel Rolland is a partner. Since 2009, Baptiste and Guillaume Cuvelier, the next generation of the family, are in charge of the estate and are taking Cuvelier Los Andes wines to the best and most demanding markets in the world.
