2019 Cantina Morone Falanghina ‘Albanora'
A small family producer in the Benevento region of Campania, brother and sister Giovanni & Eleonora Morone have taken the reigns of a project started by their grandparents. Giovanni and Eleonora are lucky to have Anna della Porta working as consulting enologist in the cellar. Anna has been friends with the Morone siblings since she was five years old. Small production, the wines are all organic, no pumping is used. 100% certified organic Falanghina from a single, 20 year old, vineyard with sparse bunches and low productivity make this vineyard a "unique" site. Grapes are harvested by hand in the cool early morning followed by a soft pressing and fermentation using natural yeast in stainless steel. Grapes and wine moved by gravity, kept under a blanket of inert gas and crushed in a closed press to minimize oxidation and lower SO2 usage. Bottles made: 5,000. Has an amazingly fresh and vibrant bouquet, showing lemon-infused peach with hints of young mango, white smoke, minerals and wild flowers. Silky, almost-oily textures and tropical accents develop with air. The finish is remarkably fresh for all of the intensity on the palate.
