2018 Point Ormond Shiraz "Heathcote"
The Grampians is about two-and-a-half hours west of Melbourne, the base of a mountain range that runs 2,000 miles up Australia’s east coast. This single vineyard wine comes from a 15 year old block of Shiraz vines. It’s an Aussie classic, made to be copiously drinkable. De-stemmed and crushed into concrete open fermenters, hand plunged. Aging in stainless steel tanks (no oak). Deep violet red with a purple hue. Fresh blackberries and violets swathed in savory tones of black pepper, aniseed and dried herbs Inviting mid-weighted dark fruit flavors dance around the palate and continue with fine grained tannins and length.
