2018 Pierre Girardin Saint Aubin 'Murgers des Dents de Chien' 1er Cru
Absolutely stunning! This wine has pedigree way beyond its "humble" roots. The nose is high-toned and intense, with loads of green apple, citrus, flint and white flowers framed nicely by a touch of oak spice and toast. The wine is layered and possess excellent depth and mouth-watering acidity. Lemon, apple and subtle saline notes shine all the way through the lingering, long finish. Drink now or hold for mid-term aging.
Pierre-Vincent Girardin is the 13th generation of his family to make wine in Burgundy. He grew up learning in the cellar of his father, Vincent Girardin, from a very young age. When the elder Girardin sold his domaine in 2011, he made sure to keep 4.5 hectares of his best sites to one day pass on to his son. In 2017, Pierre-Vincent made his first vintage and announced himself as a rising talent in Burgundy. 100% Chardnnay. 25+ year old vines. Practicing organic. From one of the top sites in St. Aubin, bordering En Remilly and just above Grand Cru Chevalier-Montrachet! Fermented and aged in 456L barrels (36% new) using indigenous yeast.
