2019 La Ca' Növa Langhe Nebbiolo DOC
100% organic Nebbiolo. 20-year old vines. Entirely hand-harvested from a vineyard in the DOCG area, so this is basically declassified Barbaresco. 18 day fermentation in stainless steel tank with pumping over 2-4 times a day. Aged 14 months in 3000L oak casks, then aged 8 months in bottle. Medium bodied with intense black cherry notes, rose petals, a bit of spice, anise and menthol with nice ripe tannins and good length. A classic Nebbiolo from a wonderful producer.
The 2019 vintage is brand new and not yet reviewed. "The 2017 Langhe Nebbiolo is one of the very finest wines in its peer group. Then again, the Langhe Nebbiolo is the estate's straight Barbaresco bottled early, with less time in cask, but more than enough to legally be Barbaresco. The vineyard sites are Cole and two sections of Ovello; Loreto and Ovello proper - in other words, parcels many estates bottle as vineyard designates. Sweet floral notes, red berry fruit and spice add nuance to this powerful, alluring Langhe Nebbiolo from La Ca' Nova." ~ 90 points, Antonio Galloni
