2019 Jean Foillard Morgon "Cuvée Corcelette” Beaujolais
Jean and Agnès Foillard make some of the most renowned wines in all of Beaujolais. From the Grand Cru of Morgon, the wines are deep, structured, and complex, with a velvety lushness that makes them irresistible when young despite their aging potential. On top of that, all the wines use old-vine organic fruit with no filtration and minimal to no sulfur added. The Corcelette bottling comes from 80-year-old vines grown on sandy granite and it is usually the most accessible in its youth of all the Morgons. Energetic and delicious, the wine has floral aromas and minerality with a core of silky red fruit.
93 points, James Suckling. "Deep and earthy, but also with great cherry and violet aromas that pull you into orbit around this elegant beauty. Long, racy and mineral finish with just a hint of funk (from reduction). Excellent aging potential."
