2018 J. Bouchon Cabernet Sauvignon 'Block Series'
Colchagua Valley, Chile
100% Cabernet Sauvignon. 29-year-old vines. The J. Bouchon Block Series Cabernet Sauvignon comes from Mingre, a dry coastal area in the Maule Valley. It is aged for 12 months in French oak.
Intense bright ruby red. Aromas of red currant, cassis, jam, dried herbs, and coffee. The spice comes out on the palate with notes of cherry, currant, and a touch of vanilla. It is juicy and finishes with smooth tannins.
91 points, Antonio Galloni's Vinous. "The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Block Series, from Maule, spent 12 months in French oak barrels (70% foudres). Violet in the glass. The fairly intense aromas include licorice, cassis and blackberry over a bed of herbs, sandalwood and green pepper. Restrained on the palate, where fine, juicy tannins deliver a long, fruity finish. An expressive wine."
