2018 Pestoni Family Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California
The Pestoni family has been farming some of the same vineyards in Napa Valley for over 100 years. By really understanding the distinct personalities of each of their estate vineyards, they’ve learned how to coax the best fruit the land has to offer. The Pestoni Family Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from the Three Tears Vineyard on the Eastern slope of Howell Mountain. With elevation that ranges from 1,600 to 2,100 feet above sea level, this estate vineyard sits on a 160 acre estate of which thirteen are planted in Cabernet Sauvignon. The rocky volcanic soils and weather conditions are challenging, but worth the extra effort as the vineyards produce wines with outstanding flavor, intensity and aging properties. The 2018 Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon is big and bold. The wine greets you with cassis, dark plums, incense, five spice, and dried thyme on the nose. Full-bodied with firm, silky tannins. Velvety and creamy with a polished, spiced finish. Lingering toasted vanilla. Drink now through the next 12 – 15 years.
