2017 Laird 'Phantom Ranch' Pinot Noir
We love everything Laird - and this single-vinyard Pinot is no exception! Fans of mouth-filling, lush, fruit-driven Pinots (think Belle Glos), this is the wine for you! 100% Pinot from the Phantom ranch vineyard in the warmer Napa side of Carneros. The site got its name from vineyard workers that had reported seeing children between the rows of vines, and when approached, they would vanish. This wine was aged for 10.5 months in French oak barrels, 42% new. Winemaker is Brian Mox, known for his time at Lewis and Etude.
The inviting pale ruby color grabs your attention- you can’t help but stick your nose in the glass. Aromas of plum, black cherry, and vanilla unravel into a full-bodied, velvety and lush wine that is balanced by delicate acidity and subdued tannins. Flavors of hibiscus and black cherry pie linger on your palate. Who knows what cravings lurk in the hearts of Pinot lovers?? The Phantom knows!
