2016 Marc Hébrart 'Noces de Craie' Grand Cru Extra-Brut
A limited-release wine from one of our favorite Champagne producers! We love all the Hebrart wines...but THIS one just might be our favorite one for the price. It's 100% Grand Cru Pinot Noir sourced from 5 vineyards in the village of Aÿ (Cheuzelles, Longchamp, Pierre Robert, Pruche, Chauffour). The vines average age is 44 years. It is fermented in steel and undergoes full ML. Dosage is 5g/L. It's aged on the lees for a minimum of 3 years. "Noces de Craie" means, lyrically "wedding of chalk”, and is the fruit of Jean-Paul Hebrart’s passion for Pinot Noir. There is colossal intensity and a chalky minerality on the nose here with Asian pear, quince paste, citrus cream, puff pastry and almond. It’s powerful and refined with minuscule bubbles and a rich, mouth-coating intensity that is laced with salty minerals and rich stone fruit and citrus flavors. This is truly exceptional Champagne from start to finish. In short, a terrific buy and a complete no-brainer for any lover of Champagne.
