2016 Laird Family 'Jillian's Blend'
Napa Valley, California
The blend for this vintage of this ever-popular wine is 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Syrah, 13% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot. It sees 21 months in oak (90% French, 10% American, 36% new). This stunning red blend says “hello” immediately with a vivid purple hue with the slightest maroon rouge rim. The nose has balanced notes of boysenberry, ripe blueberry, baking spice and vanilla. The palate is full bodied, plush and balanced with flavors of dark red cherries, mocha, and clove. The lasting, indelible finish leaves you yearning for the next sip. A perfect wine to drink on its own or as an accompaniment to your next cookout. Drink now through 2028.
92 points, Wine Spectator. "The Laird Jillian's Blend has a ripe and lush style, with waves of cassis, plum sauce and açaí berry rolling through, coated with mocha and sweet spice notes and leading to a very polished finish. For the hedonist crowd. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2024. Tasted twice, with consistent notes."
