2016 Dorcich Cabernet Sauvignon 'Monte Bello Vineyard'
Santa Cruz Mountains
Winegrower Stephen Dorcich began working for his father in the pear orchards of North San Jose at age 8 and now farms his family’s 50 acre estate. And he is producing wonderful wines. I recently visited the winery and tasted their 2016 Monte Bello Road Cabernet Sauvignon…and was blown away!
Yes, that’s correct…winemaker Torah Bajjalieh sources the fruit for this flagship wine from vineyards along Monte Bello road in the Santa Cruz mountains appellation, one of the most lauded Cabernet Vineyards in North America. This vineyard area produces the fruit used by Ridge Vineyards in it’s flagship Ridge Monte Bello cabernet, considered by many to be one of the best, most collectible Cabs in the entire world! The Dorcich cabernet is full bodied and rich, and displays classic mountain notes of ripe black cherry, dark fruit, smoke and tobacco. The tannins are ripe and well rounded by extended barrel aging. It has a velvety finish with notes of vanilla and spice. ~Joe Consul, Enoteca Direct
