2016 Osvaldo Viberti "La Morra” Barolo DOCG
100% Nebbiolo from a single vineyard. Grapes grown at altitude of about 1000 feet on soil that consists of mixture of sand, limestone and clay. 8-10 day maceration. The wine is aged in 15hl casks for 20-24 months. About 3500 bottles produced. Opens with classic Serralunga notes of iron, tar, smoke followed by deep layers of dark fruit. This is a decidedly masculine style with terrific energy, that showcases classic notes of rose petals, anise, dark plum and cherry. A wonderful example of traditional winemaking. Osvaldo Viberti is a young wine producer who has been running his family farm since 1993 with the initial guidance of his father, help of his wife Carla and their two children, Anna & Paolo. The family farm was passed down from grandparents Assunta and Tistin. The farm, once again is not a large one, with about 10 estate hectares planted with vineyards and cultivating, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Dolcetto, and Nascetta.
