2016 Chartogne-Taillet 'Les Barres' Blanc de Noirs Extra Brut
Champagne, France
Extremely high 'cool factor' alert! Under young Alexandre Chartogne’s guidance, the wines of Chartogne-Taillet have become some of the most sought-after Champagnes being produced. All of Chartogne-Taillet’s hectares (11.68) are farmed organically (uncertified). ‘Les Barres’ is made entirely from Pinot Meunier and was the estate’s first single-vineyard bottling. It is fermented using only native yeasts, goes through partial malolactic fermentation, is raised in a combination of used barriques and concrete eggs, spends 48 months on the lees, and is dosed at 6g/L.
