2014 Pierre Gimonnet 'Spécial Club' Brut
A very 'special' bottling from one of our favorite Cotes des Blancs producers! Only 29 producers are in the Club Trésor and allowed to bottle 'Special Club' wines. These wines are only made in outstanding vintages when the producer feels they can make a wine of superlative quality and character, one that can pass a rigorous testing process and receive approval from their peers.
This wine is 100% Chardonnay - 84% Grand Cru fruit and 16% Premier Cru fruit. It is raised in stainless steel, goes through malolactic fermentation, is aged for 60 months on the lees and is dosed at 4g/L.
95 points, Vinous Media. "The 2014 Brut Spécial Club Cramant Grand Cru is another super-impressive wine in this range. It emerges from the Bateau, Gromonts, Buissons, Bauves, Bionnes, Champ du Prévôt and Briquettes lieux-dits. Orange confit, tangerine oil, white flowers, graphite and lightly tropical fruit infuse the Cramant with tremendous complexity to match its powerful personality. The Cramant is a rich, heady Champagne with a feeling of structure that leans towards the realm of Pinot. I loved it. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. Disgorged: October 14, 2019.”
