2011 Cascina delle Rose Barbaresco 'Tre Stelle'
The Tre Stelle Barbaresco is made from 100% Nebbiolo from the Tre Stelle vineyard. The wine is a wonderful expression of Barbaresco and one the purest examples of Nebbiolo to be found in the appellation. Aromas of mixed red berries, flowers and spice explode from the glass. On the palate there is a gorgeous balance of power and elegance with silky tannins and high levels of integrated, refreshing acidity. The finish is long and lean. A truly exceptional Cru Barbaresco from one of the best small, artisanal producers.
Established in 1948, Cascina delle Rose sits on five hectares, of which three are planted with Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo. It is an incredibly immaculate and meticulously-run estate. The family practices organic farming — the utmost respect given to the earth — with all the vine care done manually. Their logo, sketched by a close friend, depicts a real-life encounter between their dog, Patata, their cat, Mimi, and a swallow. It perfectly represents the harmony they strive to achieve with their land and in their wines.
93 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. "The 2011 Barbaresco Tre Stelle is a fine and delicate wine that was bottled in April 2014 under a full moon. It ages in oak barrel for 18 months. Tre Stelle-s bouquet opens to floral highlights of pressed blue flower with bright cherry, cassis and forest fruit. You get a sense some warmth from the 2011 vintage, but the overall results are delicate and feminine. Drink: 2015-2024."
93 points, Antonio Galloni's Vinous. “Dark red cherries, iron, smoke, leather and dried herbs are some of the notes that emerge from the 2011 Barbaresco Tre Stelle. Next to the estate’s Rio Sordo, the Tre Stelle emphasizes the more savory side of Nebbiolo, with less overt fruit but much greater structure. Cloves, leather, smoke and plums are some of the notes that linger in this decidedly vertical, powerful Barbaresco from Cascina delle Rose. Cascina delle Rose owns 1.5 hectares in the 15-hectare Tre Stelle cru.”
