2008 Henri Goutorbe Special Club
In a different class! Henri Goutorbe is one of the more important growers in Champagne...and produces excellent rich, well-structured Champagnes—always satisfying to drink. Goutorbe’s Grand Cru Spécial Club is in a different class. It hails from one of Champagne's most acclaimed modern vintages (2008) and is all Äy Grand Cru fruit. Its Special Club designation means that it is a truly "special" wine of spectacular quality and character. 70% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay. Goes through full malo. Fermented in stainless steel tanks. It is aged for at least SEVEN years on the lees. The 2006 got rave reviews - the Wine Advocate described it as "...bursting from the glass with a rich bouquet of warm biscuits, confit lemons, ginger, honeycomb and smoky yellow orchard fruit. On the palate, the wine is broad and full-bodied, with superb concentration, ripe acids and a fleshy, vinous profile, its mousse already nicely refined. The finish is long and lusty." And this is a BETTER vintage! Limited.
