2008 Château Suduiraut Sauternes
Bordeaux, France
95% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc; with the noble rot of Botrytis cinerea. This wine offers an open nose with some notes of orange, crystallized lemon, grapefruit with highly-rated slightly acid refreshing one. The aromas of white flowers and almond paste complete this range of freshness. The palate reflects the liveliness of the vintage and reproduces the aromatic range of the nose by adding to it of the pineapple and a vanilla touch thanks to its breeding in barrel. The liqueur is present by the density but remains discreet. The finale leaves especially a very fruity, fresh and slightly acid imprint. This wine presents a pleasant and attractive appearance, which will allow to appreciate it in its youth.
94 points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. "The 2008 Suduiraut exudes superb minerality on the nose, with apricot, marmalade and quince. The palate is full of tension: beautifully botrytized fruit, the finish furnished with lemon zest, quince and marmalade that linger long and seductively. It seems to shimmer with potential and well drink young or old. This is an estate that has really got into its stride thanks to winemaker Pierre Montegut. Drink now-2045." (04/11) 92 points Wine Spectator: "Packs power and purity into an unctuous yet sleek frame, with mouthwatering acacia honey, creamed melon, honeysuckle, white peach and green almond notes that drive through the lengthy finish. A serious Sauternes. Drink now through 2024."
